DC Summer Bucket List
In my last Girl’s Guide, I shared my favorite summer destinations in the DMV. This week, I’m sharing your submissions! And if you’re not in the DC area, never fear — I just wrote up a list of summer bucket list activities (that you can do anywhere) for Evie Magazine. Read it here.
Without further ado, here are some reader suggestions for taking advantage of summer in the swamp!
Sample DC’s Food Scene
If you’re tired of the same old takeout, friend of the ‘stack Max Bodach has got you covered with his very official spreadsheet of the best restaurants and bars in DC. Find it here. I have a feeling a Max star will soon be as prized as a Michelin one. And since it is summer, after all, the spreadsheet even includes whether an eatery has outdoor seating or not. Here are Max’s recommendations of the best restaurant to visit in each quadrant if you’re feeling fancy:
1. Joselito Casa de Comidas (SE)
2. Copycat Co (NE)
3. Le Mont Royal (NW)
4. Lutéce (NE)
Enjoy Water and Wine
“Some suggestions — kayaking/boating/paddle boarding at the Wharf or in Georgetown; dinner in Old Town Alexandria (Barca Pier and Wine Bar, Vola’s, or Ada’s on the River are all great options), head slightly out of the area to The Winery at Bull Run or other wineries in the area.” - Theresa Olohan
Pick Your Own Berries
“We just did Great Country Farms in Bluemont, Va., to pick our own cherries and it was such a lovely area — sooo perfect for families — must do for sure. (They also sell farmers market items/scored some great honey and meat).” - Lyndsey Fifield
The Haps
Summer on Screen
We all love Christmas movies at Christmastime, so why not summer movies in the summertime? Meghan Dillon rounds up her top 25 picks for Evie Magazine. I love that she included some of my favorites like The Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Roman Holiday. Read the full list here.
