What do you love about your neighborhood?
I live in Brookland-CUA. I love this neighborhood because every street has a chapel for me to run to whenever I need Jesus.
What does your life look like right now?
I’m a full-time entrepreneur in the floral industry. Lots of errands and smelling flowers all day! I love it!
Where does your love of floral design come from?
My love for floral design started at my obsession with plants in college. I attended two schools, Seat of Wisdom College and Christendom College, that are nature-inspiring locations which always made me want to purchase plants for my room. And coming from an artistic family, I eventually started to design the flowers.
What floral trends are you loving for weddings right now?
Flower lapels on groomsmen have been fun to see trending on Instagram. I also love to see that the old and more traditional style of bouquets like baby’s breath and roses are returning for bridesmaids. Lastly, I love making flower crowns. It’s fun mixing fresh flowers like orchids, freesia, or spray-roses with dried flowers.
What’s your favorite restaurant in the DC area?
Primrose is a fun spot in my neighborhood. It’s French American food. I love that you’re surrounded by plants all year round and it’s walking distance from my house. The manager Sebastian calls me one of their regulars because I dine there a lot. Pretty shortly, I’ll be supplying their plants and flowers, so check it out!
What are your summer wardrobe staples?
I love wearing dresses! Even when I work, I’ll wear a fun yet comfortable dress. Anthropologie, Nordstrom Rack, and H&M are probably my go-tos. You can find great deals sometimes too!
I also love The Little Catholic for my jewelry. I don’t wear jewelry often but love their work. My boyfriend bought me the mini Sacred Heart necklace. Super cute!
The Haps
Bagelmania in DC
There are many things that separate DC from NYC, but chief among them is DC’s lack of authentic NY bagels. Is it really the tap water that causes such a gap in bagel quality? Anywho, New York’s H&H Bagels just announced they will open 10 locations in the DMV that will sell their genuine NYC bagels shipped down from Queens. Read more in The Washingtonian here.
Ryan Gosling Sticks Up for Ken
GQ just published an interview with actor Ryan Gosling ahead of the release of his movie Barbie. Ryan plays a living, breathing version of Ken, a doll he says has been misunderstood over the years. Learn more about how Gosling got into acting and how he rose from an indie darling to a household name in GQ’s profile here.
