How To Find Your Summer Aesthetic
My latest story for Evie Magazine is all about finding — and actually wearing — clothes that match your summer aesthetic. I hope you enjoy!
How To Find Your Summer Aesthetic In 8 Easy Steps
Even though summer is officially here, you’re not alone if you’re still figuring out your summer aesthetic! Whether you’re a maximalist who wants to look like the main character all summer, or a minimalist who just wants to stay cool while looking chic, we can all benefit from pinpointing our ideal summer style.
All of the fun activities that come with summer give you a chance to reinvent your style – or at least put a new spin on how you dress! Maybe you’re taking a luxurious vacation or just heading to a picnic at the park – whatever your plans, you can find a cohesive summer aesthetic that’s perfect for everything you have in store this season.
The “trending” styles for summer are all over the map – there’s truly something for everyone. Prefer classic silhouettes and neutral colors? Maybe you’ll want to throw a light sweater over your shoulders and go full coastal grandmother. Love neon colors, fun accessories, and the “little shirt, big pants” outfit combo? Dressing Y2K could be for you. Obsessed with Instagrammers like @rosemaryretro and @emilyriboflavin? Then channel your inner ‘70s Bohemian with flowing skirts and headscarves!
Of course, these aren’t the only summer aesthetics to pick from! Soft girl, country club chic, granola girl, French girl… the list goes on and on.

Interview with Jinnie Rose Christensen
Every week, I introduce you to a different woman who knows the ins and outs of DC so you can steal her identity tips! This week, I want you to meet Jinnie Rose Christensen, a self-proclaimed Midwesterner by birth and Southerner at heart. Connect with her on Instagram and Twitter.
What neighborhood do you live in and why do you love it?
I recently moved from Barracks Row to Navy Yard. I love both! Barracks Row is very unique with morning wake up calls from the Marines... and Navy Yard is convenient with proximity to the Capitol and restaurants/bars!
What does your life look like right now?
My job isn't a normal 9 to 5, but gives me the opportunity to network, travel and tackle new projects daily. I love having every day be different.
What's your favorite DC hidden gem?
Every Friday night, you can watch the Marine's Parade. The Marine Barracks here are the first ever Marine Barracks and were spared from destruction during the War of 1812. By the time it ends, it's perfect to get drinks out on Barracks Row following!
What would your perfect girl's night with friends in DC look like?
Depends whether it's a night in or out! Out: The Bullpen for their happy hour special and bopping around to Dupont Circle, AdMo or Navy Yard! In: themed ladies’ nights with movies and games. My favorite early 2000s movies include Mean Girls, Confessions of a Shopaholic, The Sweetest Thing.
What’s one book you think every woman should read?
Dana Perino's "Everything Will Be Okay" — a great read for any young woman but especially a newcomer to DC on how to network properly.
What's the biggest lesson you've learned over the course of your career?
There is always an opportunity to teach yourself something new. Whether you've been in your position for years or not, there is always a way to grow in professionalism in how you carry yourself and how to do your job even better than you have already been doing it.
