The American Girl’s Guide to DC
Those of you who were worried you’d never find out what Felicity is up to as a DC girl in 2022 — you can rest easy now! I checked in with American Girls Josefina, Kirsten, and fan favorite Felicity to find out how they’re coping with DC life.
Josefina Montoya
Josefina is one of those DC girls who has a new job every time you run into her. She’s also always on vacation somehow?? Her Instagram is all travel pics — Cancun, Mykonos, Paris… how does she find the time? Or the money? But she’s the life of the party, so you can hardly go out with your friends without running into Josefina and her fresh tan. “How is your job with Congressman so-and-so?” you ask. “Oh my gosh, that was like three months ago. It sucked so now I’m private sector,” Josefina says. A few months after this exchange, you see she’s now working for the federal government. Will Josefina ever stick with a job for more than six months?
Kirsten Larson
Kirsten says that her aesthetic is cottagecore, but she lives in a modern loft apartment in Navy Yard. She does grow basil on her balcony, though. On any sunny weekend, you can find Kirsten wearing a midi dress and sneakers, walking to Capitol Hill for a picnic with a bottle of rosé tucked into her tote bag. She might even have a flower or two tucked behind her ear. Kirsten loves being outside and HATES bad weather, which is why she tells her friends she’s leaving DC every winter when she gets seasonal depression. Should she leave DC to try out cottage life for real? Or just keep muddling through the blah DC winters?
Felicity Merriman
It’s hard to be a horse girl when you’re stuck in DC, but Felicity still FaceTimes her horse Penny when she’s feeling down (with the help of her mom, of course). Maybe it’s time for Felicity to find a new hobby — she’s pretty much either working or sleeping. The problem is, Felicity has tried everything, and nothing sticks. Pilates? She keeps forgetting to set her alarm in time for class. Embroidery? She keeps pricking her finger. Watercolors? Her paints run together and turn brown. Should she give up and just be that boring girl who works, meal preps, and sleeps?

The Haps
Sharing is Caring
It looks like DC is joining the ranks of other cities that already have a “Are We Dating the Same Guy?” Facebook page. Women can share (or request) information on their suitors in the new private Facebook group, reports The Washingtonian. I’m not sure if this is a genius invention or a disturbing sign of the times… Most of the time, you’re better off forming your own opinion about someone, but there’s always an exception.
Bulletin Board
Congrats to MAX BODACH, who joins the Lincoln Network as operations manager.
