How To Style Flannel In A Feminine Way This Fall
This week, I’m featuring my latest story for Evie Magazine, which includes my top tips for styling flannel this fall! I had way too much fun writing this one.
Now that fall is here, everyone is excited for pumpkin spice and everything nice – and that includes breaking out your favorite flannels to ward off the chilly weather!
Flannel shirts have been a fall staple for both men and women for years…which means it’s time for a refresh on how to style flannel for autumn. Keep reading for tips to keep your cozy fall wardrobe fresh.
“Shackets” Are a Girl’s Best Friend
“Shacket” may be an awkward word, but these combination shirt-jackets are a girl’s best friend when she wants to look comfy yet cute. Look for a plaid shacket made of material that’s on the thicker side so that you’re not shivering once the sun goes down.
A shacket with black or brown overtones can be super versatile – wear it dressed down with boyfriend jeans and flats or dress it up with black jeans and heeled booties. I especially love this two-toned option from Princess Polly, available in beige or brown, since it’s unexpected but still easy to pair with items you already have in your closet.
Interview with Caroline Bosler
This week, I’m excited to introduce you to Caroline Bosler, a Kentucky native and George Washington University alum! Connect with Caroline on Instagram.
Why do you love your neighborhood?
I live in Logan Circle, and I love it for three reasons: One, it's centrally located in the city. Two: the architecture in Logan Circle is gorgeous, and most of the rowhomes are still intact from the 1880s, making it a beautiful neighborhood to walk through. Three: Logan Circle is right next to 14th St, so there are restaurants and bars galore; something new is constantly popping up.
What does your life look like right now?
My days are pretty packed at the moment. I work on the Hill from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in person every day. After work, you can find me attending seminars for the fellowship programs I’m involved in, panel discussions, or other Hill-related events. However, my favorite after-work activity is wine night with friends. I LOVE hosting little get-togethers, and I try to do them semi-regularly.
What's something you wish you had known before moving to the DC area?
I wish someone had told me to be more selfish with my job/internship search. Many people in DC will use you as a step on their ladder, which is fine so long as it helps you also, i.e., gives you experience and increases your network. But if someone (a boss, coworker, internship coordinator, etc.) is using you as a stepping stone without any regard for your career goals and doesn't allow you to expose yourself to the industry, do not hesitate to take another job that is better aligned with your goals. I always suggest sticking out an internship until its culmination but don't feel pressure to return if the environment doesn't foster professional growth.
What's the biggest lesson you've learned about dating and relationships?
At the start of a relationship, it's SO easy to wonder if the guy you're seeing likes you. So much so that we forget to ask ourselves, “Do I even like this guy?” Don't forget that dating is a two-way street. He should impress you just as much (or more) than you impress him.

The Haps
Metro Announces Big Changes… In 2025
WMATA got trolled hard on Twitter after reports that the next generation of Metro trains will have heated floors and charging outlets starting in 2025. DC residents wanted to know… can we just get trains that run on time in 2022? Read more about the 8000 series Metro trains in Axios here.
Taylor Swift Takeover
If you’re reading this, that means that Taylor Swift’s tenth album, Midnights, is live… and you may have already listened to it 10 times. Taylor has come a long way from her “Teardrops on My Guitar” days… and so have all of us millennial women who have grown up listening to her! Even if you’re not a Taylor Swift fan, you’ll probably be tempted to listen to the album on your commute this morning so you’re not left out of any water cooler conversations.
So far, I’ve only listened to “Snow on the Beach,” her collaboration with Lana Del Rey, and I wanna know… where’s Lana??
